The truth is this: Democrats have tried and failed to fix the economy. They want to distract you from the facts:
Obamacare is a disaster. Jon Bruning opposes it and has helped lead efforts to overturn this monstrous takeover of healthcare. Ben Nelson traded his "yes" vote in exchange for the infamous Cornhusker Kickback.
The Wall Street bailout has not improved confidence in our markets. Jon opposed the bailouts. Ben Nelson voted for it.
Government regulations continue to burden small businesses. Jon Bruning has opposed federal intrusions into our economy - like the National Labor Relations Board imposing its will on where businesses can relocate. Ben Nelson was the deciding vote on a bill which would have curbed this type of unconstitutional meddling.
The Democrats know that their prospects for re-election look bleak - and so they fall back to the one think they know how to do... attack. Democrats have purchased hundreds of thousands of dollars in TV ads, called in every favor they have to the media, and sent out thousands of emails trying to take Jon down. They’re nervous. They know we can win.
They know this election could decide the balance of power in Washington.

8/12/2011 Court Rules That Individual Mandate in Obama's Health Care Law Is Unconstitutional
The moment Obamacare passed last year, thanks to Ben Nelson's 60th and deciding vote, I knew I had to act. Along with 12 other states, I filed a lawsuit on behalf of all Nebraskans proclaiming the law was unconstitutional - particularly the mandate that requires every U.S. citizen to obtain health insurance or face serious fines.
We won our first round in Federal Court in Florida earlier this year.
Today, we won round 2!
An extensive ruling from the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals declared that the individual mandate is unconstitutional.
From their ruling:
“In sum, the individual mandate is breathtaking in its expansive scope. It regulates those who have not entered the health care market at all.”
“…but what Congress cannot do under the Commerce Clause is mandate that individuals enter into contracts with private insurance companies for the purchase of an expensive product from the time they are born until the time they die.”
This is a sweeping victory for all citizens. But the fight is not over yet.

SIDNEY – Attorney General Jon Bruning on Sunday visited with constituents at the Hillside Country Club as part of his campaign tour in western Nebraska. Bruning, a Republican, seeks to unseat Democrat Sen. Ben Nelson and provide further Republican support in the U.S. Senate.

Jon fighting Obamacare in Atlanta With 9.1% unemployment, Senator Nelson's vote for a failed $787 billion stimulus plan comes into stark relief. The national debt now stands at $14 trillion.
Senator Nelson claimed the stimulus package was all about jobs: "It's a jobs bill,' [Nelson] said, one that is needed immediately to prevent the deepening economic crisis from sliding into a catastrophe." (Lincoln Journal Star, 2/12/09). Washington deserves better leadership if we are ever to get our financial house in order.
