Dear Judiciary Committee Members:
OPPOSE LR39 Council Provide the Nebraska Legislature recommends certain basic principles as a guide for state and federal immigration policy and call upon Congress to enact reforms. CO-SPONSORS are Sens Amanda McGill; Bill Avery; Kathy Campbell; Colby Coash; Danielle Conrad; Tanya Cook and Bob Krist. THIS RESOLUTION WOULD OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCE NEBRASKA as a SANCTUARY STATE! It is UNBELIEVABLE that ANY SENATOR would introduce a PIECE OF GARBAGE like this OR co-sponsor it. In reality, the Law Enforcement section of this resolution discriminates against Americans and legal immigrants by encouraging the authorities to overlook civil violations relating to federal code in regard to illegal aliens. In fact, I'd like an immediate refund of wages paid to the introducer and the co-sponsors of this bill as it seems to me you are NOT REPRESENTING NEBRASKA TAXPAYERS. Nebraskans have been opposing illegal immigration since 2006, we have been begging our legislators since then to DETER illegal immigration to our state - this resolution will do the complete opposite and will tie NEBRASKA's hands from acting on illegal immigration at all.
ADVANCE LB48 Janssen Adopt the Illegal Immigration Enforcement Act. Any Senator who does NOT support this bill should resign now. This bill is the next logical step to follow the passage of LB403.
ADVANCE LR28 Fulton Encourage all municipal, county, and state law enforcement agencies to participate in the Secure Communities program by the year 2012. Any Senator who does NOT support this bill should resign now.
NEUTRAL LB569 Coash Require employers to e-verify the immigration status of new employees Had Sen Coash mirrored our federal laws on EVERIFY, this bill would be a great next step. However, since he didn't his bill would not withstand a court challenge. If the necessary changes were made to correct the language then I would encourage you to advance this bill. Interesting that Coash is also a co-sponsor on the SANCTUARY STATE LR39 so, it's not too hard to figure out the true intentions of his introducing this bill.
