Messages from U.S. Senator of Nebraska - Mike Johanns

Senator Johanns e-Update
August 12, 2011

I’ve enjoyed my first week of August travel as I make my way across the state. I’ve met with many of you already and appreciated hearing your views so I can make the best decisions possible when I head back to Washington in September. At every event – from Open Coffees to Ag Policy meetings to tours of flood affected areas – your message has been clear: Washington needs to stop political theatrics and the implementation of burdensome policies that hinder economic growth. Whether expressing frustration over our debt crisis at a town hall or telling me about the EPA’s burdensome regulations hindering production on the family farm, many are frustrated with the way Washington is working. I understand and agree with the sentiments I have heard this week - in order for our country to tackle our greatest challenges we must set aside politics and find a way to come together to get things done for the American people.

Next week I will be in western Nebraska and then travel along the northern border of the state where I look forward to connecting with you and hearing your thoughts. To learn more about my travels, I encourage you to check out the trip-tracker on my website.
